Neatly framed between the Atlantic and the Massif Central, with the Gironde Delta to the north and the Spanish border to the south, lies the regions of Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées. Practical info : Tarnos is situated just 5 minutes from Tarnos beach and the River Adour where the Landes region meets the Basque country and less than 10 minutes from the city centre in Bayonne. Biarritz, with its plush casino, designer boutiques, stores, bars, restaurants and nightlife is only 15 minutes away. And if you fancy a nice Paella or some tapas you can even be in Spain in under a hour’s drive. Yet the property is situated in a lush green, picturesque village overlooking the fabulous “Landes” forests. Bayonne is the capital of the Basque country and as such is lively all year round. Apart from the delicious local Ham, one of the local specialities is the chocolate which has been made here for hundreds of years as back in around 1500 Sephardic Jews fleeing the Spanish Inquisition arrived, bringing their chocolate-manufacturing trade with them. There’s everything you could want in this lovely town: lots of shops, restaurants along the banks of the river Nive where you can have lunch and watch the fish play and so much more. Don’t forget to visit the old fortifications which will take you back in history and remember for three centuries until 1451, which marked the end of the Hundred Years War, Bayonne enjoyed prosperity and security under English domination and the locals still like us (or other foreigners)!!! Amenities: Shops and schools are 5 minutes away. Bayonne TGV railway station (with fast trains to Bordeaux, Paris-London with Eurostar) is 10 mins by car the local golf club 10 mins by car and Biarritz airport, (daily Ryanair flights to and from London Stansted in 1½ hrs approx) is 15mins away. Flights to London are also possible from Pau, just 70 minutes away.

Our opinion : A viewing of this property is well worth while and being in very close proximity to Bayonne and the Atlantic beaches, means that the property is very good value. In addition, if you added a swimming pool, a very nice rental income could be had. LEMOINE Monde
