Miles of fine sandy beaches, a hinterland rising up to the foothills of the Massif Central and the Pyrenees, this is the Languedoc-Roussillon, a land full of character, stretched out under almost permanent sunshine.

In the hinterland, charm and authenticity have been extensively preserved. The Haut Languedoc and Cévennes nature reserves and the wooded slopes of Cerdagne are always popular with hikers taking in the magic scents of rosemary, lavender and thyme. This colourful country also produces fine wines which every year earn the respect of a greater number of wine lovers. You may well be washing down the local sea bass caught that morning or a côte de boeuf lightly scented with fresh herbs with these eccentric wines. And that's only the beginning…

 

Practical info : Located in Laurens, in the midst of the vineyards of Faugères in the flora rich Regional National Park of the high Languedoc yet only around half an hour’s drive from Béziers and the Mediterranean coast, this village is renowned for its beauty and is listed in the Sites et Paysages de France It is right at the foot of the national park of the Haut Languedoc.

 

Local shops, schools and amenities are very close and you will be between Béziers, Pezenas and Bédarieux around 30 minutes from Lamalou-les-Bains which is a world-renowned spa resort. Incidentally, Lamalou has a 2600 metre 9 hole par 35 golf course and even a casino if you fancy your luck! Equally, if you enjoy your golf there is the Golf de St. Thomas near Béziers around 30 minutes away. This is an area where you will enjoy horse riding, wonderful walks in the Orb valley, the Mont Carou, the Lac de Salagou not forgetting the stunning Gorges de l’Hérault.

 

The local railway station at Bédarieux is 5kms away or you can catch a TGV train from Béziers around 30 minutes away.

 

Ryanair fly to Perpignan and Carcassonne and also to Montpellier, all within 90 minutes drive of the residence. The nearest airport is at Béziers/Cap d’Agde which is just 25 minutes away and from here Ryanair operate flights back to Bristol in the UK. Flybe also fly to Perpignan from Southampton and Birmingham respectively. BMI Baby operate to Perpignan via Manchester. Easyjet runs flights from Gatwick to Toulouse, 2 hours drive away. For our Norwegian neighbours, Ryanair operate flights from Oslo to Marseille, 100 minutes away. The Scandinavian airlines, Norwegian and Sterling, both operate from Oslo to Montpellier, just 45 minutes from this property. For our Swedish cousins, Ryanair fly from Stockholm to Girona, which is just over the border in Spain (about 2 hours away). Anyone travelling from Denmark will be interested to know that Sterling operate from Copenhagen to Montpellier.
